As I already explained in the Jurassic World review I find it refreshing to see a comeback of the “real popcorn cinema”. Films that clearly cater to the mainstream, but are made with an honest attempt to do nothing else, but to entertain and with all effort put into succeeding at that.
Dwayne Johnson plays a rescue helicopter pilot, with all the usual clichés attached: on the brick to divorce and having a daughter, which he loves more than anything else on the world. One sunny day, disaster strikes in the form of an enormous earthquake, whose aftermath is about to turn whole cities into dust.
Everything I said about Jurassic World, can also be said about this film: the story, while clearly not the main focus, is simple, enjoyable and within the film’s reality makes sense, the characters are likable and relatable, the action and acting is crisp and the special effects are OUT OF THIS WORLD.
There really isn’t anything more to say here. Go to the technically most advance multiplex your neighborhood has to offer, sit back and enjoy.
